EU’s new energy measures don’t include price cap on Russian gas
BRUSSELS, Sep 14 (PRIME) -- The idea of setting a price cap for Russian gas is absent from the European Commission’s proposals for new energy measures in the E.U., according to a statement released on the authority’s website on Wednesday.
"The Commission will deepen its discussion with Member States about the best ways to reduce gas prices, also analyzing various ideas for price caps and enhancing the role of the E.U. Energy Platform in facilitating lower price agreements with suppliers through voluntary joint purchasing," the statement read.
The list of proposed measures includes a reduction of electricity consumption, a limit on the windfall profit of oil and gas companies and a limit on the margin on the producers of electricity on renewable sources.
